For Valentine's Day Laurie and I had the most brilliant idea! We decided to make homemade fortune cookies with little personalized fortunes in them. Making the cookies was a lot easier than I thought it would be, which was a pleasant surprise. However, coming up with the fortunes was hard... at least for me. I now can understand why when you open a fortune cookie that it usually has something lame written in it. I tried to be as creative as I could though. Andy hates fortune cookies with just statements and not fortunes in them, so Laurie had one of hers to him say, "you're nice." Haha!

We started out by making the batter. We had the get just the right consistency so we could spread it into little pancakes on the cookie sheet without it being too thin or too thick.

Once they were done, it was a race against the clock to fold them before they cooled. And they were HOT! I think it's probably good we didn't make more than we did for the sake of our fingers.
First we had to fold them in half over the fortune and then place the cookie folded side down on the edge of a cup. The cup was our favorite part because then we only had the touch the edges of the blazing cookies.
Then we placed them in muffin tins so they could cool the rest of the way and keep their shape.

After they were all done, we went and got little boxes and made them look all cute!

Gary really loved his fortune cookies! Which made me happy because we worked hard on those suckers! He had to practice some self control so as to not eat them all at once, and I had to practice self control as to not eat any of his cookies.

Later we went and stayed at the same bed and breakfast that we stayed in on our wedding night. We stayed in the same room and everything! It was so nice to go back. We got to sneak food from the kitchen and drink really rich hot chocolate and just relax.

I hope everyone else had a great Valentine's Day!
