Catch a fly

One thing I love about Gary is that he always makes me laugh. And I'm not talking about the occasional funny knock knock joke. He comes up with the funniest things that make me laugh so hard.

Like the other day for example. We were in the kitchen and he opens up the silverware drawer and pulls out this...
My handy tea infuser.

He holds it up and says, "Liz, you should catch a fly in this."

I laughed and asked, "Why would I want to do that? What would I do with him once he was in there?"

"Oh I don't know. Look at him. Or give him a tiny little motorcycle so he could ride loops around inside."

That's when I lost it. I was laughing so hard! The statement was hilarious enough on it's own, but the mental image it put in my head was priceless.

Hello... Is this thing on?

Remember how I used to be semi-good at blogging? Well I do. There were times when I would actually post something more than once a month. And if you were really lucky I would even post more than that! Those were the good old days... But alas, the past little while has not been like that. We've been so busy looking for jobs and trying to get into a routine that blogging has been really low on my list of priorities. Not to mention there wasn't much going on that was very blog worthy.

Ok, maybe that isn't all true. There has been some pretty exciting things going on. Exciting for us anyway. We FINALLY finished Lost. I know, I know, you're excited for us! Being unemployed and all... we had lots of time to catch up. The only catch was that we had to watch them late at night because streaming Netflix to our TV was impossible during the normal TV watching hours. You see, our apartment has internet included and so watching anything on Netflix or looking up anything on the computer when everyone else is home is like trying to pour frozen molasses. It just didn't work. So we would stay up late every night. We're starting to get back on a normal schedule though, so don't you worry.

I have also become an expert bug killer. Even though our apartment is brand new it has had a few uninvited tenants. I can spot even the tiniest bug from across the room. I have done quite a bit to bug proof our apartment. So much that when the exterminator came to spray he asked me if I needed a job. Haha!

And Gary and I have taken up jogging. Whenever we would need a break from filling out application after application we would go to the nature center for a walk. That walking turned into jogging and it has been so fun. I have always loved exercising, but running/jogging was never my cup of tea. I don't know why I love it so much now. Maybe it's the fact that we go jogging in such a beautiful place or maybe it's the fact that Gary and I go to together. It's probably both.

Also, since we're so much closer to Gary's family, we've been able to see them a lot more. It's been so great. We've had so much fun with them. I've been missing my family like crazy so whenever I get homesick it always helps to go see Gary's family.

So our life hasn't been terribly exciting this past month, but we've had fun in spite of how hard it is to find jobs. We've been learning to be ultra thrifty and find fun things to do that are either free or don't cost more than a dollar. Tuesday nights have been our date night since it's when the theater has movies for $1. So it's been an adventure so far. And I'm kinda... sorta... well ok, I'm still trying to get used to the humidity. I never realized how lucky I was to live somewhere that has dry heat.
