Missouri

This last month we took a road trip to Missouri. We were gone for a week and we had so much fun. We got to visit family and do so many more fun things! We started our trip on Friday evening and I was super tired. I had just worked a whole week of 12 hour shifts and was lacking in the sleep department. I took a short nap, but not as much as I probably should have. Our plan was to stop in Nebraska about half way and sleep. We had quite a while to go before we got to our hotel and my sleep deprivation was kicking in, however, it was kicking in in the form of hyperness or "rummy-ness" as my Mom would say. I was acting like a loony drunk, but at least I was able to keep Gary awake!

We did so many things whilst in Missouri, but one of the adventures was when Gary and I went to Bass Pro Shop. It was so fun to spend time there and look at everything they had.

They have all the dear heads that any hunter could ever dream of.

They have a turtle pond! I could have watched those turtles for hours... which I pretty much did.

They have scary sea creatures which we were terrified of. They also have foxes and Gary likes them because he is sly like a fox. They have a very big bear. They have a fish water fountain outside. They also have a truck that disappears when you take it in the woods! After that we went to the nature center and walked along the trails they have there. It was so pretty and green.

Later that week we went up to a theme park called Silver Dollar City and stayed there for a couple of days. It is such a cool park. They not only have rides but also tons of other things to do in the park. They have a lot of places where you can go watch people doing their different trades. They have a blacksmith, glassblower, you name it. There is also a really huge cave underneath the park that you can go down and take a tour of.

It was a great vacation and such a nice break. We can't wait until we can go back again!

Working for the Weekend

This last weekend we went to my parent's house for Mother's Day. It was a lot of fun and great to get out of town for a few days. We drove the truck down so we could help them haul some stuff to the dump. The first thing that needed to go was the old big satellite dish. Gary helped my Dad take it down while I pretended to help by lamely grabbing onto it every once in a while. While all this excitement was taking place, my mom was raking up some leaves and sticks. That task was more up my alley so I helped her instead! Then after everything was loaded into the truck, we went up to the dump to drop it all off. I of course was a lot of help! I threw some screws, bolts, and sticks while they chucked all the heavy insignificant stuff.

After all the work was done we went to the new X Men Origins-Wolverine movie. I really liked it! It will definitely be one that I want to buy when it comes out.


After the movie we went to Canton City, a chinese buffet that we really like. However, there was one thing that happened there that I did NOT like. I was eating the house shrimp, minding my own business, when I went to eat one of them and I saw what looked like a little black hair on it. Well I used my fork to inspect it and I found that it wasn't just a little piece of hair, it was a long one that was wrapped around the shrimp! I could have just puked... Everyone was reassuring me that they were sure the hair was clean. They were also trying to get me to look on the bright side, "at least you didn't eat it, at least it was black and you could see it..." but none of these really helped me. However, the soft serve machine did help me feel better by supplying me with all the vanilla ice cream I could eat.

On our way out of the restaurant we all grabbed a fortune cookie. I always get a kick out of some of the fortunes they put in those things. But this time we got some really good ones! Mine said, "There's no such thing as an ordinary cat." I don't know who thought of this one, but I wonder if while they were writing it they laughed as hard as I did when I read it. Gary's fortune was actually perfect for him. It said, "There is no greater cure for misery than hard work." And for those of you who know Gary know that he has a hard time sitting still for too long. He always has projects that he's working on and he is always working hard. So that fortune cookie and Gary were meant for each other! Me and my cookie on the other hand... It cracked me up. I guess I must be more of a dog person.

So all in all it was a really good weekend! I loved the relaxing we got to do and it was nice to be there for Mother's Day!

This is my parent's apple tree. It has so many blossoms! I thought it was so pretty.The bees were pretty much having a hay day with all the flowers.I loved all the pink tulips!This is just us! Gary is, of course, still in his church clothes. Sometimes I have to make him change or else he'll stay in them all day. Haha

Flowers

Well our yard is shaping up! We (and by "we" I mostly mean Gary) have done a lot of trimming

and chopping of all the over grown bushes and trees. We cut down our huge rose bush and separated the roots on each side of the porch... so hopefully that will turn into two beautiful little rose bushes. My mom gave us some cute pansies and I love how they look on the porch! Then we finally bought our petunias that Gary had been eying every time we went to the store and planted them! I got ambitious at around 9:00 one night and so Gary, being the great husband he is, held a flash light for me so I could plant them. I can't wait until they start to grow more.

Gary's Springtime Adventure

The other day after work as I turned down our street I saw Gary just sitting on the tailgate of the truck. I was confused as to why he was just sitting there. And, I'm not going to lie, it was a funny thing to see and I laughed... but only a little.


Well he had locked his keys in the truck! But luckily for him we have a key hidden just in case. Well thanks to that spare he got in the house. However, wouldn't you just know it... he locked those in the house!

So seeing that he wasn't going anywhere anytime soon he decided to do some yard work. So he busted out the weed eater and shovel and did some lovely edging on our grass!

It was a blessing in disguise...

So the moral of the story is that sometimes bad things happen to good people for good reasons!
